Background

 Tony's story begins in Smethwick, England, a sprawling suburb in the heart of the industrial Midlands.  Photo above from 1992.  His parents were immigrants from the war-torn countries of Poland and Germany.  His father, Jan worked in a steel mill until he died.  Tony was six when Jan was forty two. Tony was raised with his sister and two

 Tony's story begins in Smethwick, England, a sprawling suburb in the heart of the industrial Midlands.  Photo above from 1992.  His parents were immigrants from the war-torn countries of Poland and Germany.  His father, Jan worked in a steel mill until he died.  Tony was six when Jan was forty two. Tony was raised with his sister and two brothers by his mother, Bernadette.  His story is well known by his surviving wife and kids.  His art work is a dedication to his memory and the inspiration for this website.

Tony's preoccupation with Native American history led him to consider the place where he was living, so close to where the Trail of Tears ended in Kentucky, for many who suffered as they waded cross the frozen Ohio river in the cruel winter of 1838-39.  Also so close to the Fords Ferry site and the Cave-in-Rock site, where many early pion

Tony's preoccupation with Native American history led him to consider the place where he was living, so close to where the Trail of Tears ended in Kentucky, for many who suffered as they waded cross the frozen Ohio river in the cruel winter of 1838-39.  Also so close to the Fords Ferry site and the Cave-in-Rock site, where many early pioneers lost their lives at the hands of rogues and pirates.  Tony called this picture "Angel from Cave in Rock."
